Zack Martin of the Dallas Cowboys, a right guard, may play against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday despite sustaining a quadriceps injury in a Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, said on Tuesday that while it’s not a major concern, they will need to keep an eye on it.
“I am familiar with quad bruises. We’ll watch how he obtains his strength there,” Jones stated to Dallas’ KRLD-FM. In addition to being uncomfortable to work with, bruises have the ability to weaken the surrounding tissue. I must therefore retrieve that.”
The Cowboys are anticipated to hold a walkthrough on Wednesday and practise on Thursday, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News. Gehlken said that Martin might be made to adhere to the “Tyron Smith plan.” In an attempt to maintain his health, the Dallas offensive tackle hasn’t taken part in weekday practices this season.
T.J. Bass, an undrafted rookie, will step in if Martin is unable to play. Brian Schottenheimer, the offensive coordinator for Dallas, praised the rookie offensive lineman on Monday.
“He did a nice job [against Buffalo],” he stated. “We really didn’t make any big changes, but there were a few basic things that I know [offensive line] coach [Mike] Solari will help him with. Ed Oliver is an incredible football player, and I’m a huge fan of that [Bills] front.
For the Cowboys (10-4)g 13th, having Martin, a six-time first-team All-Pro, suit up is the best-case scenario. He recently received a 71.1 grade from Pro Football Focus, rankin at his position.
It was evident how his departure from the Buffalo game affected the Dallas offence. It managed a season-low 195 yards in the 31-10 blowout.
[Bass] engaged in combat. He has essentially been doing that all year.”
