Emerging backrower Brendan Piakura will remain a Brisbane Bronco for another three years.
The 21-year-old established himself as an NRL regular in 2023, making 13 appearances after winning promotion to the top grade in the Round 13 win over the Warriors in Napier. His 30 tackle busts, seven line breaks and two tries across the back half of the season showcased Piakura’s huge potential.
He possesses a damaging running game and can produce some brutal shots in defence, and he will be focused on finding even more consistency in his game in the seasons ahead as his game matures.
The Broncos Academy graduate was already signed for the 2024 season, with his new contract extension making him a Bronco until the end of the 2027 season.
Piakura joins a host of teammates to commit to the club’s future until at least the end of 2025 including Payne Haas, Pat Carrigan, Reece Walsh, Kotoni Staggs, Selwyn Cobbo, Kobe Hetherington, Jesse Arthars, Corey Jensen, Deine Mariner, Xavier Willison, Tristan Sailor and Blake Mozer.
Broncos Coach Kevin Walters said: “We saw Brendan step up last season and start to show what he’s capable of, which is some really exciting footy.
