Gareth Ainsworth, the manager of QPR, has spoken on Jack Colback’s dismissal following the team’s loss against Sunderland.
Gareth Ainsworth, the manager of QPR, has no issues with Jack Colback being dismissed after Sunderland rallied from a deficit to win at Loftus Road. Due to his late lunge on Jobe Bellingham midway through the first half, former Sunderland and Newcastle United player Colback was given a straight red card by referee Dean Whitestone, giving the West London team a 1-0 lead.
Following a deflected Jack Clarke goal in stoppage time of the first half, goals from Dan Ballard and Abdoullah Ba in the second half helped the Black Cats turn things around. Ainsworth responded, “No, I’ve seen the video once and Jack is late,” when asked if he had a problem with the red card.
Tony Mowbray of Sunderland comments on Jack Colback’s QPR red card and provides an injury update.
After that, it became challenging since our midfield was a crucial component. All of our athletes gave everything. With only eleven people, it was going to be difficult, but we were in charge and after the first five minutes, we were the aggressors.
The game is altered by the red card since we lose a player and their broad zones are now open. Then, it becomes challenging to compete against a team that has invested well and has quality players on their roster.
“The first goal, in which Clarke’s effort was deflected into his own net by defender Steve Cook, was extremely fortunate. The second and third are the ones that leave me feeling a little let down, due to minor mistakes like failing to keep track of a runner or handle a cross.
