‘One of the top’ Premier League players,’ according to Brendan Rodgers, is the 26-year-old Tottenham star.

James Maddison, who joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, has garnered high praise from Brendan Rodgers, who described him as “one of the top players” in the Premier League.

James Maddison and the Celtic manager were coworkers at Leicester City, and he would have witnessed the 26-year-old’s growth into the player who has since rejoined the England team after a three-year absence.

In his four Premier League appearances since joining Tottenham this summer, Maddison has lit up the globe and helped new manager Ange Postecoglou start the season undefeated by scoring two goals and providing the same number of assists.

In an interview with talkSPORT Breakfast on June 23 at 9:15 am, Brendan Rodgers discussed how his former player’suits’ playing for an attacking coach, which he is receiving with Postecoglou.

Of course, he received the same under Rodgers with Leicester, which explains why he has 22 goals and 17 assists over the last two seasons.

However, Rodgers had this to say regarding Maddison’s strengths as a player and his transfer to Tottenham.

Rodgers responded, “No, not at all (surprised by Madison). “I believe there are two factors. One, James has truly grown as a person. He needed to work on a few things when I first arrived in Leicester, but his brilliance was obvious.

“According to those who know him well, he enjoys the game a lot. He’s a big football fan. His character is wonderful. But because he is a top-tier player, I am overjoyed for him.

“James will fit an attacking style at Tottenham, where Ange will be the coach. He needs a manager who will attack the match. That will fit him perfectly.

“He will fit wonderfully into Tottenham as a club, a club that is steeped in history of exceptionally fantastic football. I can’t say enough good things about him; he’s a fantastic young man and one of the best footballers in the Premier League.

Maddison’s ability to lead Spurs back to Europe.

The influence Maddison has had is one of the key reasons Spurs haven’t missed Harry Kane.

The goal-scoring midfielder has finally arrived after years of Spurs supporters pleading for a player of his kind. He is all they could have wished for.

It’s now up to Maddison to keep up his performances and see whether he can aid in the team’s trip back to Europe.
