Joe Aribo’s post-Rangers issues won’t harm Nigeria’s chances as the manager deals with Southampton’s problems

The midfielder has struggled since leaving Ibrox for St. Mary’s.

As long as his management supports him, Joe Aribo’s lack of playing time at Southampton doesn’t seem to have an impact on his chances of playing for his country

This season, the former Rangers midfielder has made just four appearances for Saints in the Championship, playing a total of 33 minutes. It follows a season in which both he and his team struggled in the Premier League and ultimately were relegated, with the 27-year-old sitting on the sidelines for many of those games.

However, he keeps getting called up by Nigeria, and today, when they defeated Sao Tome & Principe 6-0, he served as a substitute for the final 26 minutes. Jose Peseiro, the manager, is pleased that Aribo will stay on the team despite his difficulties at the club level.

“What I can say is that he doesn’t play too much in the club, yes,” he said, according to AllNigeriaSoccer. But I have faith in him. Not all players, however there are few that I believe have talent and ability even if they don’t play for the team.

He obviously didn’t have a lot of time, but he still played. Every weekend, my team and I watch 40 to 50 games, and in the middle, when teams are playing in UEFA competitions, we watch them live on television. He’s in good shape to play with us if he’s here.
