Leeds’ match against Southampton this month took a significant hit as a £30 million man is now ruled out.

For their matchup with Leeds United later this month, Southampton has already suffered a setback.

City, winger Kamaldeen Sulemana is expected to miss the meeting between the two likely promotion contenders.

The Saints, who were destroyed 5-0 at Sunderland before the international break, had again another terrible 90 minutes.

With Sulemana’s late dismissal last night at St. Mary’s, Southampton has now given up 16 goals in their first six games under Russell Martin.

Leeds vs Southampton without Sulemana
Sulemana will be need to miss Southampton’s next three games, the third of which is against Leeds at the end of the month, due to the severity of the red card.

He will also miss Tuesday’s game against Ipswich Town at home and next weekend’s away trip to Middlesbrough, who are now at the bottom of the table.

Having said that, journalist Alfie House reports that Russell Martin is hopeful there are reasons to challenge the dismissal and, if successful, would be back in the running.

The red card was admittedly a tad severe, so it wouldn’t be shocking if the verdict was overturned.

Sulemana is anticipated to play a significant role for Southampton this year as a result of their £30 million valuation of him in the summer, which turned away a number of other interested clubs.
