Southampton need ‘good result’ against Leeds United as Saints urged to flip mistakes on ‘big occasion’

Will Smallbone has urged his teammates to maintain their confidence as Southampton hosts Leeds United on Saturday in an attempt to snap a skid of four straight league losses.

After a rough stretch, Will Smallbone acknowledges that Southampton must perform on a “big occasion” against Leeds United. The Saints have now dropped their previous four league games, including humiliating losses to Sunderland and Leicester City.

“I think there is a lot of confidence, but I don’t know what it is,” he told the Daily Echo. We’ve made a lot of mistakes, and right now it seems like we’re being penalized for them.

“With the manner we’re going to play, mistakes are certain to happen. To prevent errors from becoming goals, we must work together and stand up for one another.
