BREAKING NEWS: Wrexham seeks a crushing loss…

When Crewe Alexandra comes to The STóK Cae Ras tomorrow, Wrexham’s captain says the team want to make amends after Luke Young called the Stockport disaster a wake-up call.

The Hatters’ 5-0 thrashing of Wrexham was the Reds’ worst loss since Phil Parkinson was named manager in July 2021.

As Wrexham gave up five goals in a game for the third time in nine games, their seven-game undefeated streak in League Two came to an end. However, Young is looking to bounce back right away after having a productive week in the gym.

The midfielder stated, “You never want to lose a game, but when you lose it in the way we lost it, I think it wakes you up a little bit.

“Regardless of whether your team is undefeated or not, you should never take any game for granted or enter it believing that you will win.

“On any given day, anyone may defeat anyone.

Young claims that despite Wrexham’s momentum and subsequent undefeated streak after their opening-day 5-3 loss to MK Dons, he never became overconfident.

The 30-year-old remarked, “We have to take the rough with the smooth.”

“Neither too high nor too low can ever exist.

The streak of victories has ended, but the next game is a home game, which is the best way for us to recover.

Wrexham had a lot to climb after Stockport took advantage of shoddy defense to go up 3-0 at halftime.

Early in the second half, the Hatters scored a fourth goal, and then added another in stoppage time to put an end to the Reds’ wretched afternoon.

Although losing was difficult to accept, Young is only concerned with the future because Wrexham is just five points behind leader Notts County in the league and now occupies the seventh spot.

“You can’t dwell on things too much,” he said.

Games happen quickly, so if you concentrate on them, you’ll have a mountain to climb.

“After our most recent victory over Grimsby, we put ourselves in a strong position. We have since lost to Stockport, but we must keep moving ahead and remain optimistic.

“Have a tough training week, focus hard on the things we need to improve on, and keep doing the things with the ball that we need to keep doing.

“We have an incredible set of players, incredible squad depth, and fantastic characteristics.

Everybody will be in pain, but everyone will want to make things right.
