Breaking News: Just now Robbie Williams reveals the one thing that made him perform at the AFL Grand Final for the second time

Robbie Williams, a Carlton supporter, claimed he would have performed at the 2023 AFL Grand Final if the Blues had been involved.

When he sang hits like Let Me Entertain You at the historic Grand Final matchup between the Sydney Swans and Geelong Cats last year, the 49-year-old caused a sensation.

According to the Herald Sun on Thursday, AFL commissioner Gillon McLachlan delivered Robbie’s message to supporters at a luncheon in Melbourne.

Sadly for Williams and thousands of other Blues supporters, Carlton’s dream of a AFL flag died last week when the Brisbane Lions beat them in the qualifying final.

Channel Seven commentator Hamish McLachlan asked his brother Gillon whether he thought Robbie, who is based in England, would have come back had Carlton triumphed.

‘That’s true,’ Gillon McLachlan said. ‘If Carlton won he would have had come, yes. He would have had to pay for his ticket somehow.’

Gillon, who is retiring from his job as AFL CEO this year, added that Robbie was paid an eye-watering fee of ‘just under a couple of million bucks’ for his crowd-pleasing performance.

Williams got the AFL Grand Final off to an exciting start last year with an electrifying pre-match performance.

Included in the set before the sold out crowd was a show-stopping rendition of Rock DJ.

But the most incredible moment came was when Robbie banged out the power ballad Angels, which he dedicated to late cricket legend Shane Warne .

He described his friend Warne as ‘one of Australia’s greatest rock stars’ as the cameras cut to the Spin King’s grieving son Jackson in the crowd at the world-famous sporting ground.

‘Love you, Warnie,’ Williams added.

Meanwhile, American rockers KISS will be performing at this year’s Grand Final, which will be held on Saturday at the MCG between Collingwood and the Brisbane Lions.

Formed in 1973, KISS is an iconic band celebrated for their distinctive makeup and extravagant stage performances.

Their chart-topping hits, including Rock and Roll All Nite and Detroit Rock City, propelled them to become one of the best-selling acts in music history.
