Oscar Garcia and Lee Bullen have eliminated themselves from consideration for the manager’s position at Sheffield Wednesday, which is more set to go to Danny Rohz
Bullen, a former player and three-time previous caretaker manager, is well-liked by Hillsborough supporters.
He made his full-time managerial debut in January with Ayr United, guiding the Honest Men to second place in the Scottish Championship last year before falling short against Partick Thistle in the play-offs.
It is thus not surprising that he has been connected to the position left open by the firing of Xisco Munoz, although he claims he has no interest.
He said, “There’s no truth about that. “I feel at home and content here. There is nothing going on there because I haven’t made any contact.
“I’m just preparing and looking forward to going back to an old haunt of mine at East End Park a week on Saturday.”
Garcia, like Rohl, is said to have been a candidate to replace Darren Moore in the summer, but the Owls decided to go with Munoz. Like his countryman, Garcia managed Watford in the past and also spent time managing Brighton & Hove Albion.
Bordeaux is one of two teams rumored to be interested, although Garcia is focused elsewhere and in demand.
Former Leeds United and Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has also withdrawn from managing Stevenage.
Rohl, who is only 34 years old, has coached at RB Leipzig, Southampton, Bayern Munich, and with Germany, but has yet to manage at the senior level. His outstanding resume makes him the front-runner for the position of chairman Dejphon Chansiri.
Bradford City might do without Tuesday’s Football League Trophy match against Grimsby Town because they have not yet reached the point of shortlisting contenders for their managerial opening.
After a successful debut against Swindon Town at home on Saturday, interim manager Kevin McDonald will assume control once more as the club sorts through candidates, some of whom are likely to include former Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley.
Away to Mansfield Town and at home to Accrington Stanley, respectively, are Harrogate Town and Doncaster Rovers in Trophy action.
