Earlier this week, iNews claimed that Everton and Newcastle were both considering signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Romano gave a transfer update about Kalvin Phillips in his daily broadcast on Caught Offside. “Despite connections to Newcastle and Everton, I’m not aware of any formal discussions on this one,” he remarked.

“Phillips is still focused on giving City his all, and a decision will be made later, perhaps in November or December. He wanted to stay at City this summer despite some approaches.”

As of right now, though, it appears that the “fantastic” player transfer drama may go on for some time, with no decisions expected until November or December.

Everton shouldn’t be alarmed by this, since the midfield is currently one of their strongest areas in the team.

Given the strong starts that midfielders Amadou Onana, James Garner, and Abdoulaye Doucoure have had this season, Everton manager Sean Dyche appears to have great talent in the same position as Phillips.

It will be fascinating to see what choice Phillips makes regarding his future because he will undoubtedly be concerned about his lack of playing time.
