Katharina Liebherr, a Southampton minority stakeholder, disclosed that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s connection with her extended beyond sport, as seen by his recent attendance at her wedding.
Following a dismal start to the season, Hasenhuttl was fired by Saints last year, and the Austrian hasn’t had a job since.

Hasenhuttl’s dismissal did not help Southampton because they were relegated, and several supporters said it was a mistake to fire the Austrian in favor of Nathan Jones.
Although Liebherr is currently Southampton’s minority stakeholder, he was instrumental in Hasenhuttl’s appointment in 2018.
She acknowledged that the Austrian impressed her right away and that, given his fervor, drive, and readiness to work with young players, she felt he would coach .
Liebherr also disclosed that she and Hasenhuttl became friends outside of sport.
“When I met him, I knew very quickly: this is our coach,” she stated to the Swiss newspaper Blick.
His fervor, his drive, his perspective on football, and his desire to make use of both our young players and players.

And out of it, a connection that extended beyond sport was formed.
Liebherr is pleased that Hasenhuttl, who was fired by Southampton last year, showed up for her wedding.
She acknowledges that she would have understood if he had decided not to go to the event in Zurich after losing his job as boss, but she honored his request to go.
