LAHORE: Led by Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Karachi Whites won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023–24, Pakistan’s best first-class cricket competition, on Thursday.

 

Karachi Whites on brink of QeAT 2023/24 title win

At the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, they won the championship game by a resounding 456 runs over the Faisalabad Region team. Faisalabad was knocked out for 333 runs after the Karachi Whites set a tough mark of 790 runs. With the bat, Faheem Ashraf showed great tenacity as he amassed an incredible 147 runs, including 23 fours and 2 sixes. His fourth century in first-class cricket was achieved with this performance.

Muhammad Ali scored an undefeated 24 runs, including four fours, in his last-wicket partnership with Faheem Ashraf, adding 51 runs. With three wickets, Ghulam Mudassar was the Karachi Whites’ most effective bowler.

The Karachi Whites’ Saim Ayub won the title of best cricketer of the championship. In the first innings, he scored a double century (203) and in the second, a century (109). It was decided that Sarfaraz was the tournament’s best player. In addition to scoring 697 runs overall, he also made one stumping and claimed 27 catches while playing wicketkeeper.

Peshawar’s Sahibzada Farhan was named the tournament’s outstanding batsman after amassing an incredible 847 runs, including three hundreds and two half-centuries. Shehzad Khurram of With 36 wickets under his belt, Faisalabad was declared the tournament’s best bowler.

With one stumping and 28 catches made, Ali Shan of Faisalabad was declared the tournament’s top wicketkeeper.
