Journalist Alan Nixon asserts that the Lilywhites are driving the chase for the much sought-after 21-year-old Ghanaian defender.

Nixon states in a post on his official Patreon page that Preston of the English Championship are now the front-runners to sign Nathaniel Adjei, the Allsvenskan underdog.

According to the report, Preston wants to sign the centre back to a temporary contract in January with the intention of making the transfer permanent in the summer.

But according to Nixon, Preston is unwilling to pay Hammarby £3 million for Nathaniel Adjei—a condition that might be of interest to both Rangers and Celtic.

Earlier this week, a report on Sky Sports revealed the potential interest in Nathaniel Adjei, and the Old Firm pair were identified as his suitors.

Despite being seen supporting Hammarby over the weekend amid the links, Adjei is obviously a wanted man, as evidenced by the mention of attention from Belgium and France.

Preston is leading the chase for Nathaniel Adjei, who is linked to Rangers. The club’s problems at centre defence are well-known, as John Souttar and Ben Davies are presently out for the season due to injuries.

ANow it appears English Championship Preston are the player’s main suitors and the situation is certainly an interesting one heading into the January window.

It’s far too soon for Philippe Clement and his team to be discussing January targets with the Rangers boss still in an observation stage after taking over as manager. But perhaps a player in the mould of Nathaniel Adjei will be of interest to Rangers as the club looks to strengthen their title tilt.
