Opta supercomputer has shown that Newcastle has a higher probability of winning the Champions League than Man United does. Erik ten Hag’s team is more likely to lose in the group stage than to make it to the last 16.
The Opta supercomputer has assigned Manchester United a worse probability of winning the Champions League than it has for the other fourteen competing teams, including Newcastle.Opta’s forecasts put Eddie Howe’s team ahead of Ten Hag’s team, along with teams like RB Leipzig, Real Sociedad, and Porto. United is only given a 0.7 percent chance of taking home Europe’s most coveted title.

Before travelling to Copenhagen on Wednesday, the Red Devils are now in third place in their group, four points behind Bayern Munich and one behind Galatasaray.

Opta’s projections indicate that United has a 46.2 percent chance of making it to the last 16, with half of the group stage remaining. This means that there is a greater likelihood that United will be eliminated at this point in the campaign.

At the end of the season, Manchester City, the defending champions, are still seen as the clear favourites to win the cup.
