And while it’s too early to predict the status of starters Frank Ragnow, Jonah Jackson and David Montgomery, all three took a step toward returning to action this week after missing the previous game team with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Lions running back David Montgomery appears to have improved as he returns from a rib cartilage injury.
“These three people moved out today.
They were out there,” Lions coach Dan Campbell said Monday afternoon.
“Definitely more pumped today, ready for (Tuesday), but we made a number of individual and team jobs, a segment on special teams and them all participating.

The Lions will hold a longer, more relaxed practice session on Tuesday to prepare for their weekend road game against the Chargers.
This approach would provide a much better barometer of the trio’s status, but Campbell expressed optimism based on what he saw Monday.
“They’ve been trending in the right direction for a while,” Campbell said.

He recorded 125 tackles in the last two games and had a breakout performance in the win over Las Vegas, rushing for 189 yards from scrimmage and scoring his second touchdown of the season .
However, despite this electrical exit, the plan is to continue the timeshare once Montgomery is cleared to return.
“Yeah, we definitely know what David can do, but we know Gibbs has gotten better every week,” Campbell said.
“We’re going to ask these guys to do the things they do well to help our offense move the football forward.
