Nottingham Forest ‘ambition’ made clear as player’s targets progress.

Latest Nottingham Forest news as Reds goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos discusses making the move to the Premier League

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos is convinced he is at a club which is on the up.

And he believes his own progress can head in the same direction at the City Ground. For both himself and for Steve Cooper’s side, he is confident there is plenty more to come.

“It was the prospective future of the club. And of course the chance to play in the best league in the world,” he said of his decision to put pen to paper in the summer.

“You hear about the ambitions of where the club wants to be. The club did very well last season to be in the Premier League and to stay up. Now the ambition is to keep the club as high as possible.

Nottingham Forest: Odysseas Vlachodimos on unity at City Ground - BBC Sport“I’m not a fan of saying we have to finish in a certain place this season. For me, and for the staff and the team, it is taking it day by day and game by game.

“We want to finish as high as possible. Maybe we can speak after the season.”

The Greece international already has an impressive CV to his name. He has experienced the pressure-cooker environment of playing for Panathinaikos and Benfica, has won trophies and has played in the Champions League.

Testing himself in the top-flight of English football was always a goal, though. And at 29 – still relatively young for a keeper – he is eager to use the experience as a chance to get even better.

“You can always get a step up. I am not done with improving,” Vlachodimos said.

“I’m 29 years old now. There is always something to improve and something to do better in every situation of a game.

“Games help you to get better. But also being in training with the goalkeeper coaches; we speak about everything, and it is all with the intention of making you better and fulfilling your potential. I really like that. It is hard work every day.
