Tennessee analyst McKenzie Milton reports that Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton has received an invitation to participate in the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile. On Thursday morning, Milton shared a photo of himself congratulating Joe on the invitation.

After finishing 2022 with a good performance and taking over for the injured Hendon Hooker, Milton came into the season with a lot of excitement. In the Orange Bowl, the Florida native dismantled the Clemson defence, but his output wasn’t very consistent in 2023.

Throughout the whole season, the Tennessee offence struggled to get anything down the field, marking a significant regression from 2022. Not all of Tennessee’s problems were with Milton; the team also had problems with receiver injuries and drops. Overall though, Milton was unable to fulfil his one and only opportunity to truly establish himself as an NFL potential.

Teams willing to take a chance will continue to be interested in Milton because of his athletic 6-5 stature and maybe the finest arm in football. During Senior Bowl week, Milton will get the opportunity to practise in front of NFL executives and scouts, with the goal of showcasing his skills and raising his overall stock. A month later, at the NFL Combine, he’ll have another opportunity to accomplish it.

Milton threw for 2,813 yards at the end of his senior regular season, which was his sixth in college. His completion percentage was close to 65%, and he threw 20 touchdowns against just five interceptions. Milton gained 299 additional yards through the air and seven touchdowns.

Milton’s lack of judgement in the Tennessee offence will surely draw criticism from scouts and pundits because Josh Heupel and Joey Halzle placed a strong emphasis on the perimeter screen game. Milton is likely to receive a lot of the same criticism that scouts gave Hendon Hooker for his contribution to the offence last season. He will get the opportunity to train with current NFL coaches in Mobile and operate in a pro-style manner.

The dates of the Senior Bowl are set for January 29 to February 3. Throughout the week, ESPN and NFL Network will provide coverage of the practise sessions.
