Before the match against Newcastle, Sean Dyche provides an injury report on three Everton players.

Sean Dyche has revealed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is showing good signs of being fit to play for Everton against Newcastle United on Thursday (7 December).

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday (6 December), the Toffees boss said the England international will “come back into the thinking” ahead of the clash at Goodison Park, while Amadou Onana is “touch and go” after only just returning to training on the grass.

But Dyche added that Andre Gomes, who he believes has had a “very frustrating” season, isn’t quite fully fit despite playing for the Blues’ U-21s side last week.

“Andre’s had a very frustrating season, but he got a run out last week,” said Dyche. “He got about 60-odd minutes, which is good. A bit more to come from him I think to be fully fit.

“Amadou is only just back on the grass, so touch and go with our decision around him. Then Dom is showing good signs today of being right, so he’ll come back into the thinking.”

The news on Calvert-Lewin’s fitness sounds extremely promising as it looks as though he will be involved for the game against Newcastle.

It’s clear that the Englishman is a crucial player for Dyche as he is one of the best forwards in the Premier League on his day.

Prior to his recent injury, he was just showing signs that he was getting back to his best, having scored four goals in his 11 appearances this season.

Whether or not Onana will be back involved looks to be unknown at this moment in time and it will probably depend on how he progresses over the next 24 hours.

It’s no surprise that Dyche is taking a cautious approach with Gomes, though, as he is yet to make an appearance this season following his injury problems.
