Report: Former Kentucky tight end visits Tennessee Dingle, Jordan

2023 Kentucky Position Previews: Tight End - On3

A new name has emerged for Tennessee as a potential fit at tight end. According to 247Sports, Josh Heupel and tight ends coach Alec Abeln will travel to Kentucky on Monday to visit with former Kentucky Wildcat Jordan Dingle, who entered the transfer portal last week.

Originally from Bowling Green, Dingle was a three-star prospect in the class of 2021. He chose Kentucky over offers from Purdue, Ohio State, Arkansas, Louisville, Missouri, South Carolina, and several others.

Dingle took a step backward production-wise as he battled injuries in 2023. Back in 2022, Dingle caught 20 passes for 220 yards and three scores. The 6-4, 235 pound tight end had four catches for 61 yards against Tennessee this past season.

Dingle would have two years of eligibility remaining.

Tennessee’s need at tight end is obvious

The Vols will return Ethan Davis and Emmanuel Okoye, but Jacob Warren and McCallan Castles are gone. That means the Volunteers currently have no experience at a pretty difficult position to learn. Making the numbers a little more dicey was the decommitment of four-star athlete Jonathan Echols last week.

Tennessee has offered Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes, who was in Knoxville this weekend for a visit. Now with Dingle in the picture, Tennessee has a couple of options on the table to pair with Davis going forward.
