Taylan May, who has acknowledged that he wants to play with his brothers when his current contract expires, puts the Penrith Panthers in danger of losing another young talent.
With Tyrone currently playing in the English Super League and young forward Terrell currently with the Sydney Roosters, the May family has all come through the Panthers.
While Terrell and Taylan are free agents at the end of 2024 and can now negotiate with other teams, Tyrone recently signed a two-year contract with Hull KR after being linked to a return to the NRL.
As things stand, Taylan’s contract offers and negotiation status are still unknown, and Terrell has been linked to re-signing with the Roosters despite drawing interest from other teams in a forward-light market.
Taylan will change from a winger to a centre during the upcoming season. He is anticipated to move into the centres at the base of the mountains in 2024.
The wide receiver, who is back in training with the Panthers after missing all of 2023 due to an ACL injury, stated he is unsure of what will happen to his contract and that, although he would like to stay, he also wants to play with his brothers.
Before training on Monday, Taylan stated, “I don’t know what’s happening with the contract because I leave that with my manager,” according to NCA Newswire.
“Everything that occurs happens.
“I don’t mind the outcome.”
I would probably like to stay if I could, but I would also like to play with all of my brothers.
That is undoubtedly one of my goals.
We have definitely discussed it, but I’m not sure what that entails in our particular situation.
“I’m just glad to play here and complete my deal. I will let my manager handle that if they wish to re-sign me.
As a trio, the May brothers have never appeared in a professional match for a club or Samoa.
