Omari Thomas, a defensive tackle, has decided to rejoin the Tennessee Volunteers.
Omari Thomas, a defensive lineman for Tennessee, made his announcement in public on Tuesday, and he is expected to rejoin the Vols. Omari, James Pearce Jr., and other players played a significant role in this Tennessee defensive line scheme. He will play another senior season before beginning his final year of eligibility with the Vols.
At roughly 6 feet 4 inches and 320 pounds, Thomas is a powerful defensive lineman from Memphis, Tennessee. His professional achievements include being named to the SEC Football Leadership Council for 2022–2023 and the Fall SEC Academic Honour Roll for 2021.
This is a major plus for the Volunteers and Tim Banks because Tennessee has already lost a number of its defensive players to various injuries, including Jaylen McCollough, Warren Burrell, Aaron Beasley, Jack Luttrell, Tamarion McDonald, Tyler Baron, and more. With 31 total tackles, 16 solo stops, and one sack so far in the season, he has had an outstanding campaign. Since the 2020 campaign, he has additionally been a multi-year starter and a valuable member of the Volunteers.
Without Baron, the defensive line will appear somewhat different in 2019, but many anticipate that the starting defensive line members will resemble one another, especially since Omari has chosen to come back. In addition, Jordan Ross, Carson Gentle, Jeremias Heard, and Kellen Lindstrom will be joining the Vols as freshmen. In addition, they currently have Tyree Weathersby, Daevin Hobbs, Chandavian Bradley, Caleb Herring, and Nathan Robinson as true freshmen.
