Arizona’s heart gets broken by Jedd Fisch on the Wildcat Scoop Podcast.

Jason and Shelby Scheer talk about Jedd Fisch’s move from Arizona to Washington in this episode. We cover every second of the previous 48 hours leading up to Jedd Fisch’s announcement to the Wildcats that he was departing.

During his initial Saturday afternoon interview with the Huskies, Fisch raised rumors that he wasn’t the team’s top pick. Lance Leipold, the head coach at Kansas, declined the position on Sunday morning, and Fisch was once again considered. Sometime in the last 24 hours, there was another interview during which financial matters were covered. On Sunday afternoon, everything was finalized.

Fisch gave several signals during the process that he was content in Arizona and would not consider the Washington offer seriously, but the administration was misled.

Arizona Athletic Director Dave Heeke wrote on Sunday, “I want to thank Coach Fisch for his tireless work and relentless dedication to rebuilding Arizona Football into a point of pride for the entire Wildcat Family.” “Although we did not want Coach Fisch to go and tried our hardest to keep him by keeping the football program funded, we wish him well as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.

“We have a common vision for the program and our student-athletes as far as the next stages go. Arizona Football is in a strong position to win more championships and succeed in the future, and I have no doubt that we will find a new head coach who will keep our nationally acclaimed football program moving in the right direction. I will hold off on making any public remarks until our next head coach is announced since the nationwide search for a replacement coach is already under way.”
