The Detroit Lions announced all of the changes to their coaching staff for the 2024 season, some of which we were aware of and others of which we weren’t.

We were aware of the following coaching staff changes for the Detroit Lions: Tanner Engstrand moved from tight ends coach to passing game coordinator, Steve Heiden took over as tight ends coach, and Duce Staley, the team’s assistant head coach and running backs coach, left to be replaced by Scottie Montgomery.

The Lions announced additional coaching staff changes and the hiring of a new coach on Wednesday.

Dre Thompson will join the Lions as their new defensive quality control assistant, following the official announcement of Montgomery’s hiring. Additionally, he is theAssistant to the WCF Minority Coach for 2023. During the previous season, he served as a coaching fellow for the Denver Broncos. Before that, he was a defensive backs coach at Campbell University (2019 and 2020) and the University of Buffalo (2021).
