Newcastle transfer update: Newcastle United target ‘ready’ for move amid third Magpies approach

All of the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours including updates on Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike and Sporting duo Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande.

Ekitike again?

The Magpies have twice failed in approaches for Hugo Ekitike before plumping to make Alexander Isak their club-record signing. However, things have not gone according to plan for the young forward at Paris Saint-Germain, and the Ligue 1 champions are said to be open to allowing the 21-year-old to leave.

Ekitike opted to stay in the summer despite this stance, but according to 90min is now open to leaving in January. The former Reims prospect has only featured for eight minutes, and is said to be on the radar of several Premier League sides.

AC Milan Eyes Promising PSG Striker Hugo Ekitike as Potential Target

Now, the latest report suggests Newcastle are set to ‘reignite’ their interest in Ekitike and potentially make a third approach for the attacker. Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson are both currently sidelined with injury, and a loan move is said to be the most likely option should the PSG forward finally make the switch to St James’ Park.

Sporting’s stance

Sven Botman’s injury and a potential setback for Fabian Schar has also raised the prospect of Newcastle adding to their defensive ranks. Dan Burn and Matt Targett are also both set for long spells on the sidelines, leaving Howe with limited options to rotate his defence.

Sporting duo Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande have both been linked as potential mid-season targets. However, reports from Portugal via Sport Witness suggest Sporting will not be willing to cash in on either defender for fees lower than their release clauses, with figures in the region of £52 million and £70m respectively.
