Newcastle United transfers: Jacob Murphy is attracting interest from other Premier League clubs.
After Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace of the Premier League expressed interest in winger Jacob Murphy, Newcastle United reportedly set a high asking price.
Under Eddie Howe, Murphy has been an important member of Newcastle’s team. Murphy was the player who had played in the most games for the team under Howe prior to the start of the current campaign.
His versatility and character have made him a popular character on and off the pitch at Newcastle with Howe describing him as ‘a brilliant team player’. Murphy is currently facing an extended spell on the sidelines following surgery on his shoulder but has still managed to find the net once in four Premier League appearances so far this season.
Murphy cost Newcastle £12 million when he joined the team in 2017. Since then, he has made 156 appearances and scored 10 goals. Murphy was previously with Norwich City. Unless they can almost double the amount they paid for the player, the Magpies are not likely to let go of the injured winger.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle would consider letting Murphy leave should they receive an offer of around £20-25million. Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest have both reportedly made enquiries about the 28-year-old’s availability and potential price tag.
But Newcastle would only consider letting Murphy leave if they received an offer that was too good to turn down. In this case, a bid in excess of £20million could be enough.
Murphy is set to be sidelined until the end of the January transfer window following a dislocated shoulder picked up against Arsenal last month.
