Umanmielen is the third-ranked player on On3’s transfer portal, behind only Walter Nolen and Cam Ward. The gifted edge rusher set career highs in 2023 for tackles-for-loss (11.5), sacks (7 sacks), quarterback hurries (17), and tackles (tying) for 39. He was the team’s best pass-rusher by a wide margin. Kiffin has made a huge gain with this. Acquiring a player of that calibre speaks volumes about the head coach’s recruiting strategy.
Is There Room For The Rebels In The SEC?
This year’s SEC will be difficult, but the Rebels’ inadequacy won’t be due to a lack of skill. The Rebels’ schedule is relatively easy until they play LSU in mid-October, which is good news. With Georgia and Umanmielen’s former team, the Gators, to finish the season, they will have plenty of time to iron out any kinks on the pitch. The absurd thing is that Kiffin might not finish. Numerous other transfer recruits have visited the programme, and there may be an impending influx of new commitments.
