Everton has developed a solid reputation for spending money on overrated players only to see them fail at Goodison Park in recent years. The famed relegation-avoiding Sean Dyche has worked to change this image since moving to Merseyside.
The English manager will, however, regret not signing Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United during the summer transfer window. Gnonto, who is now competing in the EFL Championship, is still considering a lucrative switch to the English top division. Sean Dyche did make several offers to sign Gnonto in the summer, but they had little impact.
Wilfried Gnonto continues to be a target for Everton.
The most recent Football Insider report indicates that Everton is still interested in acquiring Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United and that a bidding war could break out for the Italian international in January. He is viewed as Goodison Park’s ideal offensive future at the age of 19 years old.
The Toffees’ season has not gotten off to a good start. From their first four games, they had only one win and one draw. Sean Dyche’s situation won’t get any better today when he plays at home against championship challengers Arsenal. He will, however, feel confident in his prospects against Mikel Arteta because this matchup mirrors his first game in command of Everton, a close victory over Arsenal.
Of course, Wilfried Gnonto will have teams lined up to grab him when the January transfer window opens. He is undoubtedly overqualified for English football’s second division and should be transferred out. Sean Dyche will therefore need to act soon and manage his transfer business effectively. Additionally, the Toffees must be in a stronger position by the start of the new
year to persuade Gnonto .
