Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, is apparently inclined to start Richarlison over Brennan Johnson when the teams play Fulham tonight.
The Evening Standard reports that Johnson, who has missed the previous two games due to a hamstring injury, may make a comeback to the team.
Since making his first start for Tottenham against the North London Derby last month, Brennan Johnson has not appeared for the club under Postecoglou.
On deadline day, the 22-year-old cost £45 million to sign. He impressed against Arsenal before having to leave due to an injury.
In his place, Richarlison returned to the team and contributed an assist in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool.
But after blowing many excellent chances to score in the 1-0 victory against Luton, the 26-year-old was benched at the break.
However, according to a recent source, Ange Postecoglou is “more likely” to choose Richarlison than Johnson tonight.
Richarlison will probably start for Postecoglou over Johnson.
According to the Evening Standard, Postecoglou will have to decide between Johnson and Richarlison for the left flank position tonight.
Johnson was scheduled to be evaluated over the weekend after sitting out the Spurs’ last two games due to a hamstring issue.
Richarlison is therefore more likely to stick with Son Heung-Min and Dejan Kulusevski off to the left.
Despite a few encouraging moments, it’s safe to conclude that Richarlison has mostly struggled this season.
The Brazil international lost his spot as Spurs’ No. 9 to Son early in the season due to his wastefulness in front of goal.
Though he has enjoyed a little more success off the left side, he did excel last month against Sheffield United when he came off the bench.
Regarding Johnson, he performed well at the Emirates Stadium, but Postecoglou will undoubtedly be hesitant to push him through an injury too quickly.
