As winter draws near, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak have sustained new injuries to join the ranks of Elliot Anderson, Harvey Barnes, and Sven Botman on the club’s injured list. However, Jamie Miley, one of the under-21 team’s studs, has now been added to the list of patients receiving treatment.

“Gutted to be out for a little while, but I’ll be back stronger,” Miley said on social media. The 19-year-old played in the preseason friendly against Gateshead and has been a regular for the under-21 team.

Speaking about his recent experience playing with his brother Lewis, who is a highly-regarded player for the under-21 team, Miley said on the club website, “It’s been really special.” Playing with your brother and moving this far together at the under-21 level is not typical.

“You just think ‘wow’ since we’ve been working with the first team lately as well! Lewis and I are not the only ones who find it special—our family have also supported Newcastle! We can sense their delight in us both when they contact us after training since their kids and grandsons are training with them. The goal is to play for the first team, but if Lewis and I can achieve it together, that would be even better.
