Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the likes of Kaoru Mitoma and Evan Ferguson in recent months.
Regarding Brighton players’ availability, Fabrizio Romano has already provided an update on CaughtOffside that is encouraging for Spurs.
The transfer insider says the expectation is that the Seagulls will make more big-name players available for the market next year.
Romano didn’t provide any specific names, but he insists that the Premier League south coast club will “always” cash in on their top players for a significant profit.
TalkSPORT reported in November that Tottenham thought Ferguson would be the long-term solution to take Harry Kane’s place at the N17.
In the meanwhile, The Athletic reported during the summer transfer window that Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Spurs, is a huge fan of Mitoma.
Romano made it clear that if the right money comes in, we could see other stars leave Brighton for bigger clubs in the near future.
“This habit of cashing in on their top players for a profit will always be their system, at least this is what they want to do,” he said.
“It’s still early to know what they will do in the summer in terms of players to sell, but the expectation is to have some more ‘big name’ available for the market… but only in case they receive really crazy bids.
“It’s too early to mention names for now, but perhaps in the coming months it will become clear which players are a priority for elite clubs in Europe, and then we’ll see what kind of money Brighton demand.”
Tottenham fans of both Evan Ferguson and Kaoru Mitoma
It’s good to hear from Romano that Spurs will likely have a chance of signing the likes of Ferguson and Mitoma next year.
However, one near-certainty is that Tottenham won’t be getting either player for cheap. The Seagulls have made huge profit from selling their top stars in recent years and this likely won’t change.
With Mitoma’s contract running until 2027 and Ferguson’s deal running to 2029, it’s not as though they’re in any pressure to cash in.
Nevertheless, both Ferguson and Mitoma are world-class players who would no doubt bolster the Spurs ranks were they to join Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs could certainly do with bolstering both the left side of their attack and their centre-forward ranks. Ferguson is a superb striker and Mitoma is a powerhouse on the left of the Seagulls attack.
Let’s see what happens in the coming months. A January move may perhaps be too soon, but it’s certainly worth seeing what happens in the summer window.
