The Cleveland Browns have a disorganized roster that has persisted through Week 16 even though they controlled the game against the Houston Texans. Kicker Dustin Hopkins missed the majority of the game, which resulted in the addition of a kicker on Monday as insurance. Punter Corey Bojorquez also sustained an injury against the Texans, aiding in kickoffs. Special teams was in disarray, as evidenced by the Browns’ last punt, which came with more than ten minutes remaining in the second quarter and the game’s final extra point on the preceding possession. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson was also hurt when he replaced quarterback Joe Flacco.
Haack has a 44.5-yard average per punt in 98 games as a kicker. Haack made 28 of his 70 punts inside the 20-yard line with just three touchbacks during his season with the Indianapolis Colts last year.
PJ Walker is expected to return to the active roster this week as well due to DTR’s injury concern:
When QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson replaced QB Joe Flacco, he sustained additional injuries.
A punter has reportedly been added by Cleveland to their practice squad:
The team has not made either move, or any corresponding move, official yet.
For the Cleveland Browns, the picture above is the perfect encapsulation of their view in the race for the top seed in the AFC. Chasing the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins, the Browns chances of securing the AFC North and a bye in the AFC playoffs are slim going into the last two weeks of the season.
The fact that this Cleveland team is still one of only three teams capable of capturing the top overall seed (not the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills or Cincinnati Bengals) says a ton about their resilience.
The current AFC playoff picture looks like this:
